Today I want to talk to you about an important topic – Laziness Being A Sin. It is something that all of us experience at some point in our lives, so let’s see what the Bible says about it.
First of all, laziness is not just not working. It is actually not using the skills and opportunities that God has given us. Remember the story of the servant who hid his master’s money in the ground? Jesus called him “wicked and lazy.” Because he didn’t use the opportunity. Doesn’t that happen in our lives too? Many times we miss opportunities even when we have them.
Proverbs says that the house of the lazy person falls apart. It’s not just about the house, friends, our relationships, our health, our careers – everything can fall apart if we don’t take care of it.
So friends, the Bible tells us to be like the ants. Small creatures, but what hard workers! We can be like that too. Not just working hard, but doing what we do well. Remember, Jesus said our job is to serve others and glorify God.
Now you may be thinking, Pastor, should we never rest? Not at all! God Himself created the Sabbath. Even Jesus sometimes spent time alone. But rest and laziness are not the same thing. Rest, but then get back to work.
I know, it is very easy to be lazy these days. Mobile phones, TV, social media – they are always calling us. But our responsibility is to control ourselves from these things.
Remember, friends, God has given you extraordinary powers. If you use them, you can change not only your own life, but also the lives of others. So let’s encourage each other to be diligent.
