When we wake up in the morning, go to the office, or do whatever we do – it is cooking at home or driving – how can we give the best in every way? Because our Lord wants what we do with the whole mind, and tries to give the best.
Suppose you are a teacher. If you make the best curriculum for your students, work patiently with them, you are not only performing your professional duties, but also, in God’s eyes, doing a great job. Because you are helping others with your talents and skills.
Again, suppose you are a driver. If you cautiously drive the passengers to the destination safely, you are not just doing a job, you are saving people’s lives. It is also a great act in the eyes of God.
The Bible says, “Do whatever you do with all your soul, not for human beings, but for the Lord.” This means that no matter what we do, we should do it with the attitude that we are doing it for God.
It’s very simple, isn’t it? But in reality, it is difficult to do. Sometimes we get tired, frustrated. It seems that our work has no value. But then we have to remember that God sees every effort of us.
I speak of myself. When I first became a pastor, very few people came to my worship. Sometimes it seemed like I was doing the right thing. But I used to pray, “Lord, I’m trying to do as well as I can. The rest is in your hands.” Slowly, I saw more people coming, they were benefiting.
So guys, do whatever you do, do it with the whole mind. Remember, through your work, you are not just earning your own livelihood, you are taking society forward, impacting people’s lives.
And yes, sometimes we will make mistakes, and we will be disappointed. But that is also normal. Then you have to get up again, start new. Because God forgives us, He gives us new opportunities.
I hope this thinking will make your work more meaningful and pleasant. May God bless you.
